This site is run by Colin Manson, trading as NI Cyber Guy under Content Kings Media. This page explains what's collected when you visit, why, and how to control it.

Analytics cookies

NI Cyber Guy uses Google Analytics to understand which articles are actually useful — what people read, how they found the site, and roughly where visitors are, in aggregate. It does not identify you personally.

Analytics cookies are off by default. They only load if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you click "Decline," or don't interact with the banner at all, no analytics cookie is set and no data is sent to Google. Your choice is remembered in your browser (via localStorage) so you won't be asked again on this device unless you clear your browser data.

If you accept, Google Analytics uses first- and third-party cookies together with your IP address (anonymised — the last part of it is stripped before being stored) to measure site usage. Google's own privacy policy governs how they process that data:policies.google.com/privacy.

You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's site data for nicyberguy.com, which resets the banner to ask again on your next visit.

Essential cookies

The only cookie-adjacent storage used outside analytics is the consent choice itself (stored locally in your browser, never sent anywhere) — needed so the site remembers you already answered the banner. This isn't optional in the way analytics is, since without it you'd see the banner on every single page.

If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address is stored so updates can be sent to you, and for no other purpose. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email you receive. Your email address is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.

What this site does not do

No advertising trackers or third-party ad cookies.
No selling or sharing of personal data with third parties.
No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you can ask what data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or withdraw consent to analytics at any time. To make a request, get in touch via hello@nicyberguy.com.
